Will We See More Virtual Queues?
When Rise of the Resistance opened at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, the attraction was so popular that it became the first in the parks to use a virtual queue system. Rather than standing in line or even obtaining a FastPass, guests used the Disney Parks smartphone app to snag a spot in line, and then your phone would let you know when it was your turn to visit the attraction.
There have been some indications that we might be in for more virtual queues in the parks, as the Disneyland app currently includes a section dedicated to them, but as of yet, nothing has been officially announced. With the word being that FastPass+ is being cancelled at Walt Disney World for the foreseeable future, the same change is likely for FastPass at Disneyland. The space is needed for social distancing, and with virtual queues have usefulness beyond the obvious, that will mean fewer people in lines at attractions. Which, even with social distancing in place, is likely a good thing.
Will There Be Replacements For Fireworks And Parades?
Along with all the other changes that are taking place due to social distancing, Disney Parks have had to make some pretty big sacrifices. While it's possible for guests to keep their distance from each other most of the time, especially inside a park with limited capacity, events like fireworks and parades bring such large crowds that getting everybody to keep their distance is essentially impossible. Thus, those events won't be happening when the parks reopen in July.And yet, parades and fireworks are some of the most popular events that you'll see in Disney Parks. For many (myself included), a night at Disneyland doesn't feel complete without a fireworks show or a viewing of World of Color. This could mean that the events removed from the schedule, like parades and fireworks, could result in potential guests not visiting the park. While Disney certainly wants everybody to be safe, the theme parks also wants guests to come. Could we see some sort of new special event? Perhaps something that plays music throughout the park and can be heard everywhere, which could give guests the same feeling without causing the crowd.
What Is The Status Of The Disneyland Hotel?
Last week, Disneyland revealed its plan to reopen the theme parks on July 17, 65 years to the day after Disneyland first opened to the public. Downtown Disney will open a few days prior to the parks, and the hotels will follow a few days after. Or, more specifically, two of the three hotels will follow. Opening dates were only given for the Paradise Pier Hotel and the Grand Californian Resort and Spa.
Conspicuous by its absence was any mention of the Disneyland Hotel. The location was not given a reopening date. It's unclear why that hotel among others was not given a reopening date. It's likely the reason is something simple. Perhaps the manpower needed to get everything clean in time might not be sufficient for all hotels, and the Disneyland Hotel, being neither the cheapest nor the most luxurious hotel option on the resort property, drew the short straw. It's also possible Disney doesn't plan to bring back enough hotel employees at first to properly staff all the hotels.
What's Up With Food Carts?
This one may seem like an incredibly simple question, but if you're a fan of Disney food, it's no small matter. Eating can be as much fun as anything at the Disney Parks, and there's certainly no shortage of options. In addition to every table service and counter service restaurant, there's everything from churros to Dole Whip to Mickey Mouse ice cream bars available at carts and kiosks around the resorts. But will you be able to grab anything you want as you walk around the park?

It probably won’t come as a huge surprise to anyone, but it turns out that the Academy Awards are not immune to the whole release date musical chairs game that has been going on since March, when the Coronavirus pandemic hit. Over the past few months, every major tentpole has been uprooted. Now, COVID-19 appears set to impact its biggest Hollywood item yet…the Oscars. Yes, it seems like we’re about to learn that 93rd Oscar ceremony won’t be happening during its initially planned date of February 28th, 2021. When might it be moving to, and what does this change actually entail/mean? Read on to find out more…
The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive, detailing how the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is planning another virtual meeting of their board of governors, this time to move the big show from February 28th. Supposedly, the Academy Awards could be postponed by as many as eight weeks, moving it past March and into April, or even May. Moreover, they’re going to be figuring out a potentially larger eligibility window for Oscar contention. Once the details are hammered out, we’ll know more, but this is a huge change. That being said, it’s not a cancelation or anything of the sort, so keep that in mind.

On Monday morning, four days after meeting and voting to enact a number of major diversity measures, the board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will again convene via Zoom to tackle another pressing issue: the date of Hollywood’s biggest night of 2021.
The 93rd Oscars ceremony has long been scheduled for Feb. 28, but the coronavirus pandemic has thrown 2020 into disarray for Hollywood, shuttering theaters across America; preventing production and post-production work on films that were slated to be ready for release by year’s end; and disrupting elite film festivals like those in Cannes and Venice that often serve as launching pads for contenders.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the Academy’s 54 governors are likely to delay the ceremony’s date by as many as eight weeks, and to extend the eligibility window beyond Dec. 31, 2020, in recognition of the fact that the coronavirus has not yet receded — in fact, California’s three highest days of new reported cases have all happened this month — and, according to some experts, could surge again with a ‘second wave’ before year’s end.
The governors are not expected to determine the format for the ceremony yet — in-person or virtual — as they feel they still have time to see how the pandemic unfolds before making that call. They did, however, need to put a hold on a new date on the calendar of its broadcasting partner, ABC.
While highly unusual, these moves by the Academy are not unprecedented. The Oscars has been delayed three times before — due to LA flooding in 1938; following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968; and after the attempted assassination of Pres. Ronald Reagan in 1981. And, as I noted back in March, the Oscars eligibility window was extended beyond the traditional 12-month period once before, ahead of the 6th Oscars. That ceremony, in March 1934, was preceded by a 17-month eligibility window spanning Aug. 1, 1932 through Dec. 31, 1933, so that thereafter the eligibility period could be the actual calendar year preceding each ceremony, Jan. 1 through Dec. 31.

Sushant Singh Rajput died due to suicide on Sunday and left his closed ones with an undying pain. Kriti Sanon, who was rumoured to be his girlfriend back when they were shooting for Raabta, has finally poured her feelings out through a gut-wrenching Instagram post.
Many celebs from Bollywood those who were pretty close to Sushant Singh Rajput are deeply affected by this loss. His death has opened up a debate about mental health and people have started talking about it.
Kriti Sanon posted a couple of very heart-touching pictures with the caption, “Sush.. I knew that your brilliant mind was your best friend and your worst enemy. but it has broken me completely to know that you had a moment in your life where Dying felt easier or better than Living.”
She adds, “I so wish you had people around you to get you pass THAT moment, i wish you hadn’t pushed the ones who loved you away.. I wish I could have fixed that something which was broken inside you. I couldn’t. I wish so so many things.. A part of my heart has gone with you..and a part will always keep you alive.. Never stopped praying for your happiness and never will.”
Sushant Singh Rajput’s last rites were performed here on Monday in the presence of his family, friends, fans and a few industry colleagues. He was found hanging in his Bandra residence on Sunday morning. He was 34.
The actor became a household name with the TV show Pavitra Rishta before foraying Bollywood.

Players' union done negotiating, tells MLB to simply tell the players when to show up for work
The Major League Baseball Players Association informed MLB on Saturday night that they are done negotiating and want an answer by Monday on how many games they’ll play and when to show up for work.
“It’s now become apparent that these efforts have fallen upon dead ears,’’ Tony Clark, executive director of the MLBPA, said in a statement. “In recent days, owners have decried the supposed unprofitability of owning a baseball team and the Commissioner has repeatedly threatened to schedule a dramatically shortened season unless players agree to hundreds of millions in further concessions. Our response has been consistently that such concessions are unwarranted, would be fundamentally unfair to players, and our sport deserves the fullest 2020 season possible. These remain our positions today, particularly in light of new reports regarding MLB’s national television rights — information that we requested from the league weeks ago but were never provided.
“As a result, it unfortunately appears that further dialogue with the league would be futile. It’s time to get back to work. Tell us when and where.’’
In other words, the union now is simply waiting for Commissioner Rob Manfred to unilaterally impose a short season, perhaps as few as 50 games, which would require the players to be paid at a prorated basis.
"We have been consistent and upfront about everything from the beginning,’’ said Andrew Miller, a member of the union’s executive committee. "We want to play and have made that abundantly clear. It’s clear the negotiations were not being productive and it was time to put the ball into the hands of MLB to let us know when we should come to work."
From crowded tubes to pedal power, London’s COVID
The crowded daily commute in London has long been a source of misery for millions. But getting to work will be even more of a challenge following Britain’s coronavirus lockdown.
Capacity on the transport network in one of the world’s biggest financial hubs has been reduced by 85% to comply with social-distancing rules, protecting commuters by preventing them cramming into trains, the London Underground and buses.
Everyone using public transport must also now wear a face covering. As the lockdown restrictions are gradually eased, many now face the quandary of how to reach the City of London, Canary What and other business areas both quickly and safely.
“The COVID crisis is making us have to radically rethink the way we move around our city, how transport operates,” said Will Norman, the London mayor’s commissioner for walking and cycling.
It’s a crucial issue. Even before the coronavirus outbreak, London faced increased competition for the title of Europe’s most important financial centre from cities such as Paris and Frankfurt because it has quit the European Union.
“Forty years of public policy about transport has gone into reverse,” said Tony Travers of London School of Economics. “This is a big existential issue for cities.”
Even a small increase in the number of car journeys would lead to gridlock, Norman warned. Before the pandemic, up to 5 million people a day packed onto the London Underground and 1 million arrived by train.
After working successfully from home during the lockdown, some may continue doing so after all restrictions are lifted. Others will be considering alternative ways to get to work.
BIKES, BY FOOT OR BOAT?
London authorities are adding new routes for cyclists and pedestrians, bicycle sales are soaring and boat operators are considering increasing their services on the River Thames which runs through the city.
Bike sales tripled in March and April compared to last year, said Terry Green of the Brixton Cycle co-operative in south London. “Every time we order bikes, they just go straight out,” he said.
But Greater London is much larger than financial centres such as Hong Kong and New York, and is widely seen as less cycle-friendly than many other cities. The number of cycle journeys has risen by 160% since 2000, following the introduction of cycle “superhighway” dedicated paths, but still accounted for only 2.5% of journeys in London before the pandemic, according to Transport for London, which is responsible for the transport system in Greater London.
“Even if cycling quintupled, which is very unlikely, or if it doubled or tripled, you’re talking about making a tiny inroad in the amount of travel by railway,” Travers said.
Distance is a problem for many — 2015 data from the Greater London Authority put the average daily commute of people working in London at 11.2 miles (18 km).Simon Munk, a campaigner for the charity London Cycling Campaign, called for a huge network of cycle roads reaching into outer London “so that people feel comfortable riding from their home to work.”
Tim Schwanen, Professor of Transport Studies and Geography at the University of Oxford, said the high cost of living in central London meant many workers with lower-paid jobs, who are less likely to cycle, live further out.
“Good infrastructure alone is not enough to get many people to change their behaviour,” he said.
Commuters already have the option of taking a passenger boat on the Thames, emulating King Henry VIII, whose preferred route between palaces in the 16th century was along the river. Each year, more than 4 million people use Thames Clippers passenger boats, about 40% of them to commute.
Sean Collins, chief executive of Thames Clippers, said the company was considering putting partitions between seats to raise capacity while adhering to social distancing. He also expects to add services to fit newly staggered working patterns.
“It would make sense for us to provide additional services into the day parts where we would normally have ceased operating,” Collins told Reuters.
